FAQS
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes—we regularly accept instruments shipped to us for repair. Shipping is available within the United States only.
In most cases, repairs are handled either through in-person drop-off or by shipping instruments directly to our shop. However, we do occasionally offer a shuttle service for an additional fee to better serve our mountain communities.
We understand that traveling along the I-70 corridor can be challenging, and as fellow mountain enthusiasts, we’re always happy to help when possible—and we never mind an excuse to get up into the mountains.
We’ve previously provided service to areas including Vail, Estes Park, Aspen, Grand Junction, Pueblo, and Telluride. This shuttle option is typically reserved for larger or bulk repair requests, such as group pickups, collections, or servicing entire communities.
Pricing may vary depending on the value of the instruments for insurance purposes. Final repair estimates are provided after instruments have been evaluated at our Denver facility.
To inquire about shuttle service, please email colfaxguitars@gmail.com with “Shuttle” in the subject line.
No, we do not accept checks.
Yes. We provide a 90-day warranty that covers free action adjustments during that period. All instruments are otherwise sold in “as-is” condition. Please note that shipping costs are not included.
No, we are not an authorized warranty center for any manufacturer. After more than a decade of performing warranty repairs, we made the decision to discontinue this service in the early 2010s.
Over time, many manufacturers have restructured their warranty programs to require service providers to also operate as retail dealers. This shift has largely favored larger chain stores and made it increasingly difficult for independent, repair-focused businesses to participate. Additionally, warranty repair compensation has become less sustainable for maintaining the level of service we strive to provide.
If your product is still under warranty, we recommend carefully researching your service options, as warranty providers can vary significantly in quality and expertise.
Yes. We maintain detailed repair records starting in early 2023. These records include the instrument’s make, model, serial number, work completed, customer specifications, string gauge, as well as relevant dates. Feel free to contact us for any records you need.
No, we do not service amplifiers. For amplifier repair in the Denver area, the following businesses are commonly used by local musicians: Vintage Tone, Music Gear MD, Swantronics, and Filament Amp Works.
We do not service pedals, but you can contact Flip Side Music for assistance with that.
We do not service orchestral instruments. We specialize in fretted string instruments, including guitars, basses, mandolins, banjos, and ukuleles. We also work on the fretless versions of the instruments listed above, but we do not service their orchestral counterparts such as violins, cellos, violas, or double bass.
Yes we do! We have two windows dedicated to supporting local music, and we’re happy to feature show posters and flyers there.
Yes, we have dedicated space for all things music related such as: lessons, studios, wanted, stolen or lost gear, open mics, etc.
