 WORK AT COLFAX GUITAR SHOP

Work With Us

Colfax Guitar Shop isn't your average music store. We're a working lutherie with a serious repair department, a custom build program, and a team of craftspeople who genuinely care about what they do. If that sounds like your kind of place, keep reading.

What We Look For

We do not hire simply to fill a position. Each member of our team is selected for the distinct value they bring—whether through formal lutherie training, extensive hands-on repair experience, or a unique combination of technical expertise and interpersonal skill.

As a small, close-knit operation, our team works in close collaboration on a daily basis. For that reason, the ability to contribute positively to the team dynamic is as important as individual qualifications.

We’re looking to connect with individuals who are:

  • Trained luthiers with hands-on experience in repair and restoration

  • Highly skilled in setups, fretwork, electronics, structural repairs, finish work, neck resets, and refrets

  • Confident communicators who can clearly explain complex repairs to customers—not just perform them

  • Thoughtful problem-solvers who are committed to continual growth in their craft

  • Genuinely passionate about stringed instruments in all their forms

  • Serious craftsmen committed to a lifelong pursuit of luthiery

What It's Like Here

Our luthiers work on a wide range of instruments—acoustic and electric guitars, basses, mandolins, banjos, ukuleles, and the occasional curveball. No two days are the same.

We take craftsmanship seriously, while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and approachable. There’s usually music playing in the shop, and we aim to keep the environment grounded, focused, and enjoyable.

As long as the work is done right and delivered on time, we support flexible schedules and time off. When time allows, luthiers are also encouraged to pursue their own creative projects alongside shop repairs and collaborative builds.

Over the past few years, we’ve made significant investments in the shop: new equipment, improved systems, and expanded space. We’re now building toward something even bigger with the launch of our Colfax Guitars Custom line in Fall 2026. For the right person, there’s real room to grow with us.

How to Apply

We don’t always have open positions, but we keep a running list of people we’d love to work with when the right opportunity comes along. If you think you’d be a good fit, feel free to reach out—or better yet, stop by and introduce yourself.
